My Little Pony G1 Collection List

Year 2(1983-1984)

Year 2 is when Hasbro decided to diversify the ponies. We not only get more Earth Ponies but we also were introduced Unicorns, Pegasus, Rainbow, and Sea Ponies. We even have Playset(one pony came with a playset like a stable, castle, etc.)Ponies and mail order ponies. This is the first time Hasbro aired their very first animated 30 min. TV special, Rescue at Midnight Caslte on April 14, 1984.

Earth Ponies

Blossom, Blue Belle, and Cotton Candy are the only three original collector ponies to have concave feet. For any FIM fans, Applejack here makes her first appearance including the TV special, Rescue at Midnight Caslte. She's the only pony who's design hadn't changed much(except giving her three apples instead of six). Two ponies with a rare pose, Seashell and Bubbles are the only ones sitting until Fair Feathers came along(more on that later). Bow Tie also makes her first apperence in RaMC along with Bubbles and Cotton Candy. Cotton Candy is the only Collectors pony that made it to the RaMC special.

Only two were made as Firefly and Medley made starring appearances in Rescue at Midnight Castle. Later on, the VHS release changed the title to Firefly's Adventure with another version of Firefly but in a different pose. Fun fact, Firefly is Lauren Faust's favorite pony and even used that name for her Deviantart account(it's Fyre-Flye but she's barely on) and Rainbow Dash's cutie mark has a lightining symbol much like Firefly's cutie mark(hers have two). Not to mention that RD is based from Faust's favorite pony.

Unicorn Ponies

I won't lie, unicorn ponies are one of my favorite breeds, along with flutter ponies. I love their design so much like Glory and Moondancer, I like to think of them as nearly twin sisters. Twilight Sparkle from FIM was based from G1 Twilight and even her mother have a resemblance design. Moondancer also made an appearance in FIM but they changed her body color from white to yellow as it resembles more of Europeon Moondancer. My only complaint is that she ends up looking like Twilight Sparkle's recolor with glasses(she later put her hair up and wears a wooly sweater), a different hair style would be nice. Moondancer, Glory and Twilight are the only three unicorn ponies out of four appeared in RaMC. Sunbeam sadly never had a chance to see a light of a day on TV(pun not intended).

Sea Ponies

Sadly, I only own two as one of them is Wavedancer and the other is from Party pack

Rainbow Ponies

I have to say that Rainbow Ponies are my favorite grooup(I'm a straight woman who happens to love rainbow colors, okay? Nothing wrong with that, you don't need to be LGBT to like rainbow colors, anyone can). Skydancer was the only rainbow pony to appear in a second MLP TV animated special, Escape from Katrina.

Mail Order Pony: Ember

Back in the days before Amazon, Ebay, or anything online shopping, there are certian G1 ponies that are exclusive only that are not available at the store. If you want to get those, all you have to do is sign up the My Little Pony Fan Club and become a member. What they do is that they mail you a certian exclusive pony and you'll also get other cool stuff like posters, stickers, etc. I don't know too much about it as I never had an opportunity to do so. You can find more info from this My Little Wiki. in detail. Year 2 is when they sold three versions of Ember; pink, blue, and lavender. Ember didn't have a cutie mark which Lauren Faust was inspired by that pony by making Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo with blank flanks from My Little Pony Friendship is Magic(G4).

Playset Ponies

These ponies came with a playsets. Majesty with her own castle, Sprinkles with her waterfall, etc. I sadly don't own any playsets(too pricey!) but I do own the ponies thankfully.
